About the Book

Sparky tells Amanda the story of how the United States was founded, and how the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. Amanda is fascinated by the story, and she starts to see the Fourth of July in a whole new light.

On the Fourth of July, Amanda and her family go to a fireworks show. As she watches the fireworks light up the sky, she thinks about Sparky's story. She realizes that the fireworks are a symbol of the freedom and independence that we enjoy in the United States.

Author's Note

I wrote The Firefly Fourth of July because I wanted to share the true meaning of Independence Day with children. I hope that this story will help children to appreciate the sacrifices that our forefathers made to secure our freedom.

I also wanted to create a story that would be fun and engaging for children. I hope that children will enjoy reading about Amanda's adventures with Sparky the firefly.
